Based on the ever-popular Jura Dinghy the Fisherman model benefits from protection from the elements in the form of a GRP cuddy or forward cabin. The Cuddy provides protection from spray and rain giving the user somewhere to store kit such as picnics or fishing gear. It also acts as a safe haven for young kids free from wind and elements.
With the same traditional look of the Family Fisherman this model follows the simplified internal layout of the open Jura Dinghy.
With a reduced overall weight the boat is easily launched by one person using a launching trolley. This makes it ideally suited for launching and retrieving from the beach, Dinghy park or slipway. It has a shallow draft, which again makes life easy when launching and allows the user to navigate and explore a wide range of locations such as harbours, lochs, rivers, inland waterways, as well as exploring along coastal locations.
As with all boats we build, safety is paramount and the Jura Fisherman is no different with four separate buoyancy tanks fitted to the hull, one large tank fitted to both the bow and stern and two smaller tanks under the middle seat.
At Highlander Boats we hand build all of our boats and in most cases each boat is built to meet the customers requirements giving the buyer the opportunity to choose from a range of colours and fine tune the overall specification so that the boat meets customers particular needs.
For customers wishing wheel steering it is possible to upgrade to this by adding a small forward steering console and remote controls. This option is available when using 5 or 6hp Tohatsu as the engine fitting kits are not available for smaller motors. The images shown below show the wheel steering and engine installation, in this case the customer also requested upgraded seating.

Engine Options
The boat is easily powered by small outboard engines. Depending on our customers requirements the Jura Fisherman can be supplied with Electric Motors for use in freshwater lakes or creeks or petrol outboards for sea lochs and coastal use.
The most commonly used engines are the 3.5hp and 4hp Tohatsu and Mariner Outboards. These will give speeds up to 5 or 6 knots depending on payload and conditions, this top speed is governed by the hull shape, so there is little point fitting more than say a 5hp Tohatsu which allows an engine with a remote tank to be used.
From a practical point of view, a lightweight Tohatsu, Suzuki or Yamaha outboard is easily handled on shore and takes up less space in a car boot or camper van. Our boat packages are based on Tohatsu Outboards, however we will supply other brands if required.
Towing, Trailer and Boat Launch
Trailers are normally Indespension or Extreme Marine, both produce quality products.
Delivery
We can deliver boats Mainland UK eg Scotland, England and Wales.
Package options
The boat is available as a basic boat or as a package with engine and or trailer.
Warranty
We offer a three year hull warranty on our boats, this is unusual on small boats and reflects the confidence we have in our products, the usual exceptions apply.
